Two weeks ago the citizens who have attended the Citizens Fire Academy have taken part in many different activities. Citizens were introduced to a firefighters full turnout gear and were given the opportunity to utilize a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The citizens were also taught the proper use of a fire extinguisher and how to approach a small fire with an extinguisher.
The next week citizens were introduced to ladders and hose equipment. Each citizen took part in flowing water and stretching hose lines. Each citizen also took part in setting ladders and understanding how important ladder placement can be. The Citizens Fire Academy will conclude this week with the main topics of Forcible Entry, Vehicle Extrication and Vehicle Fires.
