AROUND THE HOUSE

Located in Virginia's
North-Central Piedmont, the Orange Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.,
serves the Town and County of Orange, VA and is 90 miles southwest
of Washington, D.C. and 60 miles northwest of Richmond, VA. Both the
Town and County are rich with history and beauty. Orange County was
the lifelong home of the "Father of the Constitution", James
Madison, and the birthplace of Zachary Taylor, our Nation's 12th
President. The county is mostly rural with population centers in the
Town's of Orange and Gordonsville, and in the eastern end of the
county, which is growing rapidly. The OVFC operates out of one
station and is All Volunteer, All The Time.

| The
current station, which opened in 1984, is located on Caroline Street
in the Town of Orange. All departmental functions take place on the
1st floor of the station and the basement offices are currently
leased to several state agencies.

| Frontline
apparatus includes 2 Pumpers, 1 Pumper/Tanker, and 1 100' Rearmount
Aerial Ladder

| The
Apparatus Room houses 7 pieces of apparatus as well the vehicle
maintenance room and lockers for almost 60 firefighters.

| When
entering the administration/personnel area from the Apparatus Room,
you'll find many new and old trophies as well as recent awards won
by our Competition Team.

| Our
Watch/Radio Room contains the building radio system, maps and
reference books, multi-line telephone and fax, and charging
equipment for radios, cameras, etc. The Station’s fire alarm
annunciator panel and "Auto Stik" (underground storage tank
monitoring) console are also located in this room. |

| The main
hallway provides access to restrooms, offices of the Chief and
President, Meeting/Training Room (on the right), and storage closets
at the far end.

| Local and
State training as well as departmental meetings and training are
held here. The room contains a desktop computer, overhead projectors
and other multimedia equipment, multiple dry erase and cork boards,
and can seat upwards of 50 people.

| The
recreation area can seat up to 13 members and has a billiards table
and kitchen facility in the rear.

| This
stand alone building to the rear of the facility contains a 130 kW
Onan generator that is capable of powering the entire building. This
equipment is crucial to operations during power outages and has been
used several times since being installed. |
