The Orange Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) works to serve our community in a number of ways; many of which may not be known or understood. The membership has recently begun working with the Orange Review to provide another outlet of information to Orange County citizens. In the month of May, 2017, the OVFC responded to 43 calls. Of those calls, 13 were EMS related, 9 were motor vehicle accidents, 6 were structure fires and 5 were brush/outside fires. Volunteers also attended the Spring Kid’s Fest on Short Street and provided lots of little ones with public safety information and friendly faces. We are proud to announce that the department joined the Orange County Chamber of Commerce in May. We look forward to partnering with the Chamber on future projects.
Additionally, volunteers spent the month of May preparing for our annual Firemen’s Fair. During the fair, Orange Fire Company Volunteers staff the following fire department run stands; Bingo, Raffle Tickets, Ladies’ Stand, Sammy’s Hot dogs, Business Office, Horse Races, and the Pepsi Stand. These stands are run solely by the Orange Volunteers and 100% of the profits go to the OVFC. In addition to these stands, volunteers spend the month of May preparing the fairgrounds, and planning and organizing the parade. The fair is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we appreciate the community’s support.
In the month of May, we also welcomed John Proffit as a new active member, bringing our total active membership to 46. OVFC recently launched a new website; which includes incident and training photos, public education request forms, upcoming events, applications for membership, the history of the Orange Volunteer Fire Company, and other various pieces of information. You can find our website at www.orangevfc.com. You can also find us on Facebook by searching Orange Volunteer Fire Company.
