Jacobs Firefighter
Whit has been a member of the Orange Volunteer Fire Company since 2002.
In order to better his services and knowledge of firefighting, Whit is
certified in Firefighter I, Hazmat-Awareness, and CPR and is a member of
the OVFC Competition Team. He currently attends Hampden-Sydney College,
where he will graduate in 2008. He is also a member of the
Hampden-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department located on campus and currently
holds the position of Lieutenant. Whit has not determined a major or
course of study but has interests in either English or History. Whit is
the son of Barry Jacobs, who remains an active firefighter for the
company in Orange.
On the side, Whit enjoys participating in many extracurricular
activities. At school he is active in the fire department and plays
many intramural sports leagues. He enjoys playing baseball, basketball,
and football, and also is a big fan of professional and collegiate
sports. During the baseball season, Whit pulls for the Texas Rangers,
and throughout college basketball and football you can find Whit wearing
his orange and blue with pride as the Wahoo’s take to the field or
court. As part of the fire company, Whit takes pride in his work and
service for his community back home, at school, and will continue such
hard work for the community he serves in the future.
