"Buckshot" Clements 1st Assistant Chief
Buckshot has been a member of the
Orange Volunteer Fire Company since 1955. He currently serves as the
department’s 1st Assistant Chief, and has also held the
positions of Captain, and Lieutenant. Buckshot has a long list of
certifications that include: Fire Officer III, Hazardous
Materials-Awareness, Basic Pump and Aerial Operations, EVOC, Vehicle
Extrication, Rural Water Supply, Terrorism Awareness, Building
Construction, and Residential Sprinkler Systems.
Buckshot was the recipient of the
Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was also listed in the
Outstanding Young Men of America in 1967, and also received the
Distinguished Service Award of the US Jaycees. Buckshot served on the
Orange Town Council for nine years and was the Vice Mayor of Orange for
five years.
Buckshot married Margie Bartley
over fifty years ago and the couple has two children, Lynn and Scotty,
who are also members of the fire company. Buckshot is an Orange County
High School graduate. He is retired after working 37 years for Bailey
and Gardner Architects, where he was instrumental in the design of over
twenty fire stations in the area. Some of Buckshot’s hobbies include
playing tennis & golf, square dancing with his wife all over the East
Coast, and being a member of the Orange Presbyterian Church.
