Kate has been a member of the Orange Volunteer Fire Company since 2002. She is currently certified in the following: Firefighter I, Hazardous Materials-Operations, Vehicle Extrication, CISM, EVOC (class 2), EMT-ST, PEPP, BTLS, and Rope I.

Kate is currently employed by Northern Virginia Community College as a Technical trainer. She earned a BA from Sweet Briar College in 1994, and a Master’s degree in history from the University of Virginia in 1998. Kate has also done additional graduate work in education from UVA, and is currently enrolled in the paramedic program at NVCC. Do to work and school obligations, Kate has a hard time remembering what hobbies actually are.
