Rapidan Area Fire

December 22 -  Orange units responded to the Rapidan area of the County for a house on fire.  Crews found fire in the wall and extinguished it, then performed overhaul.  Pics

Seasons Greetings

December 7 -  Orange Volunteers loaded up the apparatus with members and children for the annual Chamber of Commerce sponsored Christmas Parade.  Pictures

Truck and Engine to LOW

December 5 -  Truck and Engine 23 responded with other East end units to Seven Pines Drive in LOW for a house fire.  First arriving apparatus from 29 found a one-story single-family swelling well involved.  Crews from OVFC assisted with opening up and salvage/overhaul.

New Truck...Is In Manassas

October 7 - Truck 23 arrived at Singer Associates in Manassas on 9/26.  The 2008 Pierce Velocity 105' RM heavy-duty ladder truck should arrive in Orange in the coming weeks, so check back for more information and pictures soon!

RT 20 Room & Contents

August 19 - Orange Volunteers were dispatched for a structure fire just outside of town on Rt. 20.  Chief 23 arrived with fire showing from the window on side “B” of a single-wide trailer.  Engine 23’s crew advanced an attack line into to structure and quickly extinguished the blaze, containing it to the bedroom with no extension.  The Truck and Tanker’s crew assisted in ventilation and overhaul operations.  Pictures

 


Gordonsville Structure

July 16 - Orange Firefighters responded to Gordonsville for a working structure fire.  Engine 23’s crew assisted Co. 24 Firefighters with attacking the fire and rescued the occupant’s dog (who was alright after being administered a little oxygen).  Truck 23’s crew ventilated, checked exposures, and assisted with overhaul operations.  Barboursville Firefighters and County EMS were also on hand to assist.  Pics

 


Terry's Run MVC

June 17 - Orange Volunteers assisted Spotsylvania Firefighters with a motor vehicle accident on Terrys Run Rd. with reported entrapment.  EMS arrived on scene with an SUV overturned with one occupant entrapped.  Unfortunately, the victim had already succumbed to their injuries and crews remained on scene to assist law enforcement.  Pics

Constitution MVC

May 18 - Orange Volunteers were punched out to Rt. 20 just past Porter Rd. for a motor vehicle collision with entrapment.  Squad 23 arrived with a two vehicle crash with one occupant still in each vehicle, as well as a third patient that had been rapidly extricated by EMS.  Firefighters began stabilizing both vehicles and had to pop the door on one to gain access to the patient.  Engine 23 split their crew to assist with the operation and do a landing zone at the airport for Pegasus.  Pics

Colonial Florist Worker

May 9 - A working fire was reported in the early morning hours at Colonial Florist in Gordonsville.  Chief 24-1 arrived with heavy fire conditions on the first floor of the business and smoke pouring out of the second floor apartment.  An exterior attack was established due to unsafe conditions inside.  Copious amounts of water were poured inside via handlines, master streams, and the ladder pipe off Truck 23 as the blaze consumed the interior of the building and left it a total loss.  Pictures

Buzzard Hollow House Off

April 29 - Orange Volunteers were dispatched to a mid-afternoon structure fire on Buzzard Hollow Rd.  First arriving Barboursville found a single story residence with fire in the attic and put a quick knock on the fire.  Orange and Gordonsville Firefighters assisted with salvage and overhaul operations.  Pictures

Fire at James Madison Museum

April 28 - An early morning fire alarm at the James Madison Museum was soon upgraded to a full assignment when smoke was discovered coming from the attic.  Engine 23 arrived and quickly laddered the building, gaining access through a louver opening on side “Alpha” of the structure.  Using the TIC, it was determined that there was a small electrical fire in the attic.  The fire was soon extinguished and crews remained on scene for nearly two hours conducting overhaul.  Pics

Lahore Structure

February 28 - Orange Volunteers were dispatched for a reported chimney fire on Lahore Rd., but the call was soon upgraded to a working structure fire.  Engine 23 arrived with smoke showing from the roof eves around the chimney on side “Delta” and a crosslay was deployed for an interior attack.  Once inside, the Engine’s crew found fire in the wall around the chimney and was able open the wall and ceiling up to get a quick knock on the fire, containing it to the area of the chimney.  Tanker 23 and Truck 23, as well as Mine Run Firefighters, assisted with overhaul operations.
