Hopewell Rd. House Fire

December 8 - First arriving units found a mobile home fully involved on Hopewell Road near Rapidan.  Crews from Orange and Rapidan mounted a defensive attack and cleared the scene in about two hours.  Pics

First Due Worker

November 8 - Orange Volunteers were dispatched for a residential structure fire on Lahore Rd. just prior to midnight.  Chief 23 arrived with fire blowing out of the front door and window of a story and a half wood frame home, as well as heavy fire conditions in the rear.  Engine 23’s crew made an interior attack through the front door, putting a good knock on the fire, while Tanker 23 manned a second line around the back.  The resident’s pet turtle, found in the bathroom on the C/D corner still alive, was returned to its owner.  Pics

Constitution Fatal MVC

October 28 - An early morning MVC was dispatched on Route 20 in the area of Edwards Store.  Orange, Mine Run, and Lake of the Woods Firefighters were sent due to reports of a two vehicle head on collision with entrapment.  Crews from Squad 23 and Engine 21 worked on one of the passenger cars, extricating two patients, while Squad 29 handled an LZ and extricated the deceased victim from the other car.  Two patients were flown to area hospitals, while a third patient was transported by ground.  Pictures

Zachary Taylor MVC

October 25 - After clearing from the previous MVC & HAZMAT, Squad 23 cleared and responded to a single vehicle MVC with one trapped.  Orange Volunteers deployed their people and equipment to stabilize the vehicle and remove the roof.  EMS packaged and transported the trapped driver, as well as two other occupants.  Pictures

Clarks Mountain MVC

October 25 - Rain in the area made for messy roads and several calls in the County.  An early afternoon crash along Clarks Mountain Road kept firefighters busy containing a diesel leak.  The driver was treated at the scene but refused transport.  Pictures

Cox Mill Double Fatal

September 15 - Orange Volunteers were punched out for an early Saturday morning crash on Cox Mill Rd. with entrapment.  Squad 23 found a single vehicle into a tree with four occupants entrapped.  Two passengers were quickly extricated and transported to UVa Hospital, but unfortunately the injuries to the two other entrapped victims were fatal.  Orange Firefighters were assisted on scene by Gordonsville Firefighters, OCRS, and Orange County EMS in the effort.  Pics

House Off in Town

August 13 - While cleaning up from an earlier barn fire in Madison County, area units were sent less than a mile from the station to a house fire on Jefferson Street.  First arriving units found the the rear of the house involved and put a knock on the fire in a just a few minutes.  Pics

Rapidan Road Multi-Entrapment

August 12 - Just minutes after clearing up from a wreck on Rapidan Rd. at Elmwood Farm, Orange Volunteers were alerted to another crash in that same area.  Squad 23 arrived within minutes of dispatch with a two vehicle head-on collision with all three occupants entrapped.  Orange Firefighters went to work extricating the patients from the two heavily damaged cars.  There was one fatality and the other two patients were transported to the hospital via medivac.  Rapidan Firefighters, Orange County EMS, and OCRS were also on hand to assist in the effort.  Photos

Garage Off...Again

August 9 - Garage fires have been our business recently, with the third in two weeks occurring on Thursday night.  Units arrived to find heavy involvement of a detached garage on Kendall Road that lit off during a thunder storm.  More Pics.

Another 1st Due Garage Fire

August 2 - Orange Volunteers responded to their second garage fire this week when they were punched out to a Lahore Rd. address just past Gas and Stuff.  Engine 23 arrived with smoke showing from the “A” and “D” sides of a two-story garage with an upstairs apartment.  Engine 23 contained the fire to the garage with a quick knockdown, while Tanker 23 checked the smoke and heat damaged apartment area for extension.  Pics

Mountain Track Garage Fire

July 29 - A structural assignment was dispatched on Mountain Track Road for a reported garage fire.  Engine 23 arrived with a working fire in a detached garage with a car and lawn equipment also burning on the “B” side.  Orange Volunteers, with assistance from Gordonsville, Barboursville, and County EMS, extinguished the stubborn blaze and had to do extensive overhaul due to the heavy fire load inside the garage.  Photos

Old Office Trailer Off

July 15 - Orange Volunteers assisted Mine Run and Lake of the Woods with a trailer fire on Old Office Rd.  Captain 21 found heavy fire conditions in a single-wide trailer with all occupants out of the home.  OVFC sent Tanker, Truck, and Engine23, along with 20 firefighters, to help out in the effort.  Firefighters remained on scene for several hours with extinguishment and overhaul operations.  Photos

Old Rapidan Car-B-Q

July 14 - Orange Volunteers were dispatched to Old Rapidan Rd. just prior to Rose Hill Dr. for a vehicle fire.  Tanker and Engine 23 arrived with a flat-bed pickup fully involved.  The fire was quickly knocked down and units remained on scene until the hazard was cleared from the roadway.  Pics

Independence Brush

July 9 - Engine Companies 21 & 23 were requested by Forestry to assist with “watching” the fire line on a 50-60 acre controlled burn. Brush & Tanker 23, along with Forestry, extinguished several small spot fires that were caused by “smoke” Tornados.  Pictures

Constitution Hwy. MVC
