Constitution Hwy. MVC

December 23 - Orange Volunteers were dispatched to the 19000 block of Constitution Highway for a Friday evening motor vehicle collision. Chief 23 arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway that had struck an unoccupied vehicle in a driveway. Engine 23 checked both pickups and the single patient that was uninjured. Orange Firefighters also handled a fire alarm at Tetley Plantation that was punched out while returning from the MVC.

House Fire

December 9 - First arriving units were greeted with heavy fire from this SFD on Landrum Lane.  Engine 23 initiated a defensive attack from the start.  Units from Orange, Mine Run, Gordonsville, and Rapidan worked for hours on the scene.  Pics.

MVC - OC Landfill

November 25 - Orange Firefighters were dispatched to the Orange County Landfill on Porter Road for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. After more information was obtained, dispatch advised that a dump truck had overturned in the landfill and the single patient was out of the vehicle. Chief 23 established command and Engine 23 arrived to check the dump truck and contain a small hydraulic fluid leak. The patient was uninjured and signed a refusal form with county EMS.  Pics.

House Fire - Barboursville

November 22 - Firefighters from the West end of OC were sent to Arrowhead Drive near the Greene County line for a house on fire.  Medic 23 arrived to find fire showing on the "A" side.  Orange Volunteers pulled in just behind two trucks from Barboursville and all 11 men went to work.  Engine and Truck 23 cleared after several hours on the scene.  Pictures.

House Fire - Mine Run

November 12 - Not long after returning from a midnight vehicle fire, Orange Volunteers were dispatched to Gadsden Lane for smoke in a structure. Mine Run Chief 21 arrived at the two-story, single family dwelling to find a working fire in the crawl space of the home with extension to the first floor. Firefighters from Orange, Mine Run, Lake of the Woods, and Spotsylvania extinguished the stubborn fire and remained on scene for nearly three hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations.


Old Gordonsville Rd. MVC

November 2 - Orange Volunteers responded to Old Gordonsville Rd. just past Mountain Track Rd. for a single vehicle collision.  Firefighters checked the overturned vehicle and assisted EMS with patient care.  Five patients were transported to the hospital.

Clarks Mountain MVC - 1 Fatality

September 27 - Orange Volunteers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Clarks Mountain Rd. near Moormont Orchard. First arriving units reported a single vehicle into a tree on fire. Orange Firefighters extinguished the blaze and the single patient succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash.  Pictures.

Belleview Ave.

September 21 - Orange Firefighters were dispatched to Belleview Ave. in town for a structure fire. First arriving units reported a small fire on the porch of the residence. Engine 23 extinguished the small fire on the porch, while county personnel reported negative fire extension to the basement.

 


Kentucky Road Silo/Sawdust Fire

September 16 - Orange Volunteers battled a stubborn blaze in a silo at the American Woodmark Corp. Friday evening. Volunteers from all county fire departments spent nearly nine hours on scene ensuring the fire didn’t extend to anywhere else on the property.


Independence Rd. MVC - 1 Trapped

September 3 - Orange Firefighters were requested for an early morning motor vehicle collision with possible entrapment. First arriving personnel reported a single vehicle on its side around the 24000 block of Independence Rd with one occupant still inside. Orange Volunteers worked at stabilizing the vehicle and assisted in the extrication. Once the extrication was complete, OCRS transported the single patient to the hospital. Mine Run Fire and Co. of Orange EMS also had units on scene.  Pictures.

James Madison Hwy. Door Removal

August 21 - Orange Firefighters were dispatched to Route 15 near Willow Grove for a motor vehicle collision. First arriving units reported a two vehicle collision blocking one lane of traffic, with one patient entrapped. Orange Volunteers removed the door of the passenger vehicle and county EMS transported the patient to the hospital. James Madison Highway was closed momentarily until extrication was completed.  Pictures.

Number Nine

August 20 - The OVFC won an unprecedented ninth William Packet Championship trophy at the 119th VSFA Convention in Hampton, VA.  The team completed all eight events, and placed second or better in five of the eight.  More pictures will follow.


Brick Church MVC

August 4 - Orange Volunteers were dispatched to Brick Church Rd. just prior to Constitution Hwy. for a motor vehicle collision. Chief 23 arrived to find two damaged vehicles blocking the roadway. Orange Firemen checked the vehicles and redirected traffic, while all patients denied injuries and signed refusals with county EMS personnel.

Monrovia MVC

July 25 - Orange Volunteers were sent to Monrovia Road just prior to Piney Woods Road for a single vehicle auto collision with entrapment. First arriving county police units stated the single occupant was out of the vehicle with injuries. Orange Firefighters checked the destroyed sedan while county EMS transported the patient to UVA.  Pics
