Heritage Hills 2 Banger

April 18 - Units were dispatched just after noon on Sunday to Heritage Hills Apartments for an apartment fire.  A firefighter from ORANGE VFC was in the complex visiting family and ran to the building to investigate.  He quickly advised OCECC of a working fire in the attic.  Wagon 23 entered the complex and laid out 700' of LDH from a hydrant at Spicer's Mill and Berry.  After rounding the corner, they established command a reported smoke showing from a 2 story multi-family.  The crew stretched a 200' attack line and entered the end unit with smoke pushing from the attic access.  Truck 23 entered the complex and came to the rear where they split crews.  Command was passed to Captain 23 upon his arrival and the Wagon's officer entered with his crew and was assigned Division 2.  They reported they had the fire knocked and needed vertical ventilation, but not before Command had called for the 2nd alarm.  The Truck's crew opened up and one of their members was detailed to W23 to assist in the fire apartment with pulling ceilings.  Other crews were assigned to check for extension in other apartments as well as RIT.

Extensive overhaul was necessary in two apartments and one downstairs apartment sustained water damage.  Units were on the scene for over three hours.  Pictures.
