In the month of April 2018, the OVFC responded to 51 calls. Volunteers put in a collective 58 hours of training the month of April.

Summer is quickly approaching and to many that signifies the start of cookouts! This month we would like to discuss a few outdoor fire safety tips, specifically involving use of grills and fire pits. When using your grill or fire pit ensure they are at least 3 feet away from your house and any other materials that can burn and never leave them unattended. When using your fire pit use a metal screen over wood burning fires to keep sparks from floating out. In addition, be sure the fire in your fire pit is out and your grill is turned off before leaving your back yard. Lastly, be sure to clean your grill after each use to ensure left over fat and grease does not catch on fire.

In April, we hosted our first “Firehouse Flashback Reunion Picnic." We had over 100 past and present OVFC members attend for an afternoon at the station. We would like to thank all of those who took the time to plan and attend this event. It was a wonderful afternoon of fellowship among past and present members.

OVFC would like to remind you our 2018 Annual Firemen’s Fair and Parade is coming up, June 6-9, with the parade on June 7.
