This month we sat down with Firefighter Rock Mallory to ask him a few questions about being a volunteer firefighter with OVFC.

Rock grew up in Orange and graduated from Orange County High School in 1997. He joined OVFC December 1994. He works at Ridgeview New Holland in the parts department.

1. Why did you join OVFC?

"I joined the fire company because it’s a family tradition."

2. What is the most rewarding part of volunteering?

"The most rewarding part of volunteering is that you get to help somebody when they’re having a really bad day."

3. What is one piece of advice you have for new members?

"My advice to new members is that you need to put time and hard work into it and if you do you’ll become a life member of a great organization."

4.What’s your favorite truck in the firehouse and why?

"I really don’t have a favorite truck just the one that goes out first for whatever the emergency is for."
